The next big things in wellness are rarely created in a vacuum. It’s a Darwin-style evolution, evolving from past trends, new scientific understandings and changing culture.

So to know what’s next in the world of wellbeing, we need to look at where current conversations are headed. Gut health is on the move, digital detoxing has hardened into venues that ask for your phone at the door, and we’re taking longevity home from the clinic. Here are five trends about to be everywhere.

From the building materials used to the energy of a room, we’re increasingly demanding spaces which are good for both our physical health and nervous systems. “Your home is shaping your mindset, confidence, and future—whether you’re aware of it or not,” says interior designer and author James Houston. “Everyone knows how it feels to walk into a space and instantly feel calm or drained; that’s environmental influence.” High end homes are now being designed through a longevity lens, too, with the addition of circadian-friendly lighting, water purification and even acoustically optimised insulation. “Health is the ultimate luxury, so high end buyers want the spaces they spend most of their time to reflect this,” says Siite.com.au buyers agent Georgia van Teil.

The rise of phone-free events and restaurants and clubs encouraging screen-free socialising is on the rise. Research by Eventbrite found phone-free events grew 567 per cent globally between 2024 and 2025 and continues to rise, with almost half of the 18 to 35 year old respondents surveyed wanting live experiences to feel more real.

But along with financial and emotional stress, surveys show getting more shut-eye is an area we’d all like to improve, according to Wellness Tourism Institute chair Katherine Droga. “Low-stimulation environments and nature-led accommodation are increasingly being designed around rest and circadian recovery”, she says. The Langham, Hyatt and Marriott are just some of the hotel brands launching dedicated sleep programs for travellers who are increasingly seeking breaks which promote rest. But the trend goes beyond pillow menus and turndown services, says Q Station general manager Arnaud Collet. “It’s about creating an environment where people naturally begin to slow down,” he says, “through low lighting, fresh air, quiet surroundings, nature and experiences that encourage guests to unwind.”

Specifically, to our large intestine and colon, and how efficiently it’s working. Search engine interest around fibre is now eclipsing protein, reflecting a growing interest in gut motility, or in simpler words, how well we poop. And with bowel cancer now the deadliest cancer for Australians aged 25 to 54 according to data from Bowel Cancer Australia, this area of our health is definitely worth understanding better.

Adjusting our routines as we move from dry, cold winters into warmer, more humid months makes sense, according to Gwen Giorla, director of spa & wellness at Èliva Spa InterContinental Sydney Coogee Beach.“As the seasons change, our body changes,” says Giorla. She describes ’transeasonal wellness’ as “a self-care approach adapting to the seasons… which contribute to our overall wellness mind, body, digestion and skin”.
